Background & Course Introduction

  • Robotic surgery has become the cornerstone for many gynecological procedures including Hysterectomies and
  • Laparoscopic surgery stands on the shoulders of open surgery and robotic surgery stands on the shoulders of laparoscopic surgery.
  • It is a common belief that to be a good robotic surgeon we need to learn and unlearn laparoscopic skills. There is a paucity of courses delving into this aspect of robotic surgery, namely,” back to the basics.

Aims & Objectives

  • Opportunity to interact one-to-one with Faculty during the course and personalized attention during hands-on and in the wet lab
  • An unprecedented opportunity to have hands-on experience on the simulator
  • Didactic talks focusing on technical aspects of basic and advanced robotic surgery

What should participants expect at the end of the course?

  • Understand the nuances of various robotic platforms with hands-on training on simulators
  • Understand the port positioning and role of the bedside surgeon
  • Understand troubleshooting and management of such situations
  • Understand and learn the basic steps of common robotic surgeries through demonstrations and simulator training

11:15 am – 11:45 am Port placement in Gynaecology – (Hysterectomy and Myomectomy)
11:45 am – 01:00 pm Video session – Robotic Assisted Hysterectomy cases
01:00 pm – 01:30 pm Lunch
01:30 pm – 03:30 pm Hands-on – Dry Lab Introduction to the Experience Center
03:30 pm – 03:45 pm Tea Break
03:45 pm – 04:30 pm Video session – Robotic Assisted Myomectomy cases
04:30 pm – 06:30 pm Hands-on – Dry Lab Introduction to the Experience Center
